I've been told they are in very good condition except for aslightly dull
reflector on the drivers side. Is there any way to fix the problem? How
serious do you think it is? Are the lights still likely to be better then my
DOT lights with 9007 bulbs (I converted them from 9004)?"
Quality of the reflector surface is critical to light output. The
reflective coating is pretty fragile and damage, usually due to water, is
fairly common. I was not able to find any place to have the surface
restored on a set of H4 lights. I did restore most of the light output
with careful placement of aluminum foil ... shiny side up :-) If you try
this you must be careful to avoid wrinkles in the foil as they would cut
down on reflected light. Most of my problem was on the flat surfaces where
it is pretty easy to avoid wrinkles, not so on curved surfaces. The
heavier gauge foil works best.
