minimizing oil gunk inside motor

I am a true believer in the cleaning abilities of Marvelous Mystery oil (MMO). When I got my CGT, the oil would look dirty only a couple hundred miles after an oil change and I had a stuck lifter. I decided to try MMO. What I did is about a week before an oil change I would drain 1qt of oil and add 1 qt of MMO, then drive normally for the next week (about 250 miles in my case). After 2 treatments the lifters no longer ticked and after 3-4 treatments my oil stays clean looking until at least 2,500 miles. MMO seems to have wonderful solvent qualities but has not cuased any oil eaks to show up. My experiences with MMO have made me a true believer and I generally don't believe in ANY addatives.

Is there a recommend and save way to reduce the oil deposits inside the engine?
My newly acquired 78K mile 2.7t seems to have way more oil gunk inside than other high mileage Audi's I have owned (KH, WX, 7A). I was hoping to be able to clean this motor out over time. But I am unfamiliar wit any products and or techniques.
My initial thought was to use a brand of oil with more solvents and conduct a few changes more frequently, like every 2000 miles. I have seen some products that claim to "clean" out the internals, but I am somewhat skeptical about these. Would dropping the oil pan and cleaning the lower end of the motor be a good idea?
