Could be motor mounts causing the problem.  Look to see if your oil pan is
sitting on the subframe. This can cause a bad vibration in the car also.  Also,
in doing some investigating into the cause, you may want to disassemble your
shift linkage by removing the ashtray and boot and things.  Clean out all the
loose change, mints, shotgun shells  (no, really, I found one down there..)that
have fallen down there in the last 19 years.  Lube everything up and see what
happens.
