I have used Mobil 1 in my Audi's for more than 10 years, usually favoring t=
he lowest viscosity grades, and never had to add a quart of oil until I bou=
ght an A8.
I would suggest that you don't evaluate the usage on the first oil change =
but see how it performs on the second change. My 1984 Chevy 454 motorhome =
with 110,000 miles is doing better on the second change.

Related to gunk in engine and hoping beyond hope:
5k km ago I changed the engine oil with synth (for the first time AFAIK).
The odo now is at 259k km, had the car since 117k. A very reliable source
(Stephane, the tech adventurer) tells me there's a smoke coming out of the
exhaust pipe. That was coasting down a mountain in 5th gear and throttle
shut. Compression will be measured soon. No oil leaks spoted. Oil usage
was 2 liters for the last almost 5K km, not much more than before. Used
left-over dyno juice to add though.
Question: Is there even a small chance that the change from dyno to synth
and subsequent mixing back with dyno has somehow caused the smoke? Maybe
valve seals?
Of course, the conspiracy theory would suggest that Stephane wants badly to
shove his surplus 1986 MC into my 1988 90 Q. Gotta build a real garage with
engine supporting roof beams
TIA, Tihol
