Fuel Pump Incantations 101

I'm guessing it's the same arrangement as the 200q20v, which means the fuel
pump is retained in a plastic basket that has a plastic liner surrounding
the pump. The liner has to turn clockwise to release a node from a
detent. There is a tool that gives you a good grip on the liner and lets
you add a socket wrench (it's 1/2" drive) to turn with. Zalenda sells the
tool for $25 or so. Some folks have found that a leather glove gives them
sufficient purchase on the prickly plastic to be able to turn it, but I
couldn't do that. However, I'm old and tubby, so maybe that's why the
wrench worked best for me.

BTW, why are you reaching through fuel? You have a huge opening there you
could easily stick a hose in and siphon down the fuel level.
