Type-44 front bearing removal/install

Isn't grease a no-no in the pressed fit bearing installations?  I thought
it took up too much room in the housing and caused bearing distortion.   I
seem to remember reading about both bearing failures and bearings falling
out under stress when installed with grease in the housing.
