Head Light wiring Question.

I say connect it to the alternator. The alt wire connects to the starter which connects to the battery, so this is where you get the most power. The wires that connect to the harness are very small, increasing the resistance, and reducing the power to the lamps. I did this before and had no problems. Just make sure to put in an inline fuse or better yet circuit breaker. You can place the fuse/breaker on the positive or negative side of the lamps' power lines. Keep in mind you have to use the same gauge wire for positive and negative. 14-12 gauge wire should be fine for even high power lamps. Also make sure you make the wiring connections tight and use tie-wraps so the wire doesn't get tangled in anything. You'll need a relay for each filament or you can use one relay for L+R low-beams or high-beams if you splice the connection from the relay. You can keep your wiring harness intact by using a H4 adapter. It plugs into the wiring harness and you only have to cut and connect the wires of the adapter. You can get these for cheap (< $2) from any place that carries aftermarket lamps. Good luck.

Hi everyone.

First:

I have a Coupe quattro and I just recently moved the battery to the trunk.

Second: I have the Rs2 light harness from 2 bennett.

Now I was in the process of wiring a power feed to the fuse box. But I realized something. With the setup I have going which is the 2 bennett harness basically backwards. Driver side and passenger side is fliped.

Could I tap into one of the allternator power feeds?

What risks might I run into?

Thanks
Josh
