Windage duplicity

O.K. I'm still collecting parts to re-assemble my CGT engine (NG), and I
decide to add a windage tray. I go to FA and find this part number for a '91
Coupe Q: 034 103 163. and the picture looks very much like this:
http://www.humanspeakers.com/cgi-bin/audi_img.pl?image=windage1.jpg&desc=The
%2020V%20windage%20tray%20(034%20103%20623%20A)%20shown%20with%20my%20freshl
y%20painted%20oil%20pan (thanks Huw).
Which is what I want.
So I order one from IMPEX and get this:

But before I call IMPEX to rant I notice that it has the correct part # on
it. And I soon locate a picture of it in FA ('91 90Q) with, again, the exact
same part number (no letter suffix). WTH???
In FA it appears to mount under the crank somehow, presumably to serve the
same function. But:
1) I can't figure out how the heck it should mount. And:
2) I can't see that it would be as effective as the metal one that runs the
length of the crank.
Any thoughts? BTDT? Know how I can get the right one?
TIA
Steve
