Mark, great stuff, glad you guys had fun! It is pretty addictive ;)
Wow, 22psi, that's great, are you still running the CIS3 ignition system?
Glad you got the IIa running, did you notice that idle and low rpm performance
are better?
Good stuff,
Javad

Finally made it out to the drag strip with my 4ktq. What a blast!
I had been meaning to find time to head out to the New England Dragway
for a while but just never got around to it. Every friday night they
basically open the track for people to more or less run whatcha brung
for $15 which buys you as many runs as you can get in (I managed 4).
I've never gone drag racing before so it was definitely a new experience
for me. Embarrassing, but I didn't even understand how the staging
lights worked until the worker at the lights politely instructed me to
pull forward until the top two lights go on (duh). I haven't really
watched much drag racing on tv so i had no idea.
I was hoping to run somewhere in the 14s by the end of the night and I
certainly got my wish. The car was setup with around a 98 octane final
mix of toluene and 93octane pump gas. Boost was set around 18psi to
start with and I kept crankin' the knob an extra turn after every run.
On the last run of the day I was hitting somewhere around 22psi with no
audible knock or hesitation (running 034 Stage IIa fuel only at the
moment).
My reaction times to start with were pretty slow as I was getting used
to things but here are the #'s from each of my runs:
Run 1: 15.153 @ 97.62
Run 2: 14.898 @ 94.68
Run 3: 15.001 @ 97.93
Run 4: 14.341 @ 94.5
the last and best run I did red light ever so slightly (R/T was .441)
but as I'm really only interested in my own time I don't really care
that I missed it by .059
Also of interest at the track was a sweet looking RS6 (the brakes on
this car are HUGE). I didn't see it run, but Nate said that the car ran
the 1/4 mile bone stock in 12.9. Damn!
A couple of pics are up here:

the movie in the gallery was from my camera in movie mode mounted on the
dash behind my gauge pod during the last and fastest run. I have to
edit it down when I get a chance as there is some wasted footage in the
beginning as there are 2 rows of cars staged ahead of me when the clip
starts.
So yeah, in summary I'll definitely be back. This could get addictive.
