87 5KQ Quits After about 30 miles

When it happened to my '87, it turned out to be dirt, or "some particulate
matter" that would pull up on the fuel pump screen till it killed the
engine. It would fall down to the bottom of the tank in the absence of
suction, then restart after a few minutes "rest".  The P.O replaced the
pump right before I bought it, and it started to fail almost immediately.
Pulling the pump and cleaning the bottom of the tank with a manual kerosene
pump fixed it right up, though easier said than done. Good luck.
