Worth $200?

I found an 84 or 86 4k (non quattro) near where I live and can get it for
on the order of $200. Basically it has surface rust on everything, a few
small holes, an exhuast leak, and some engine tap. Needs rear wheel
bearings, and 0 out of 4 door handles are functional. Its the 4-cylinder,
and I don't have experience with them.

I'm looking to build a beater rallycross car (and winter driver) for a
friend of mine so conveniences, interior, and appearance concerns are
minimal. it would be a "used part" kind of car, so I'm not looking to
restore it at all costs.

Is a "tap" from the valve cover region lifter as in the 5-cylinder, or bad
news for the head? My other option is to wait and see if I can find a
5-cylinder quattro for a few hundred bucks more, but they are valuable up
here in the snow belt and even rusty ones go for $$$.

Basically if it were your $200 with the above goals, would you let it sit
in your yard during the week so it can get raced on weekends?
