Hi Sean and Kent,

I agree with Kent's assessment, but there is another possibility. I had the
same problem with my rear window and it turned out to be a completely
siezed motor. There must have been water ingress because the motor was
rusted over when I took the casing off. Fortunately, I had a spare motor
from an old car which I kept a few parts from, so I swapped the motor and
gearbox units over leaving the existing window, slider and cable in place.
I have absolutely no idea how to actually remove the window and slider if
that needs to be done, because there appears to be an almost totally
inaccessible circlip holding the window to the slider mechanism.

Hopefully it won't be the same problem as with my old 100qa. I was told
that the rear window wasn't working when I bought it, but on investigation
I found that the window was detached from the slider mechanism and actually
chocked up with a block of wood!

Cheers, Mike.

This is typically due to a broken wire in the door jamb.
Since it is a rear door, that is unlikely. But there is a
switch on the driver's door for that window, and that
wire goes to the driver's door jamb. Since the driver's
doo opens/closes a lot, it breaks wires. I'd look
there first. See
