Greetings Audinauts,

Saw the post about the 44 PS/PB system. I recall that someone did retrofit =
the setup from a type 43 and that it was a direct fit. Check the archives, =
I think it was around four years ago.

I'll probably go that route with the hangar queen '91 200q once it gets to =
the new "hangar". (Its motor went into a frighteningly quick 4kq, and its t=
ransmission is going into Ken Keith's 20V- far from original, but still ver=
y nice looking. Winter project!)My aim is to produce a 44 which is not nece=
ssarily the most advanced variant, but will almost certainly be one of the =
most bulletproof: 100E manual AC, ATF/vacuum assists, 5ktq locker 3.89 diff=
/tranny, G60 brakes, EFI equipped MC engine, 2 piece manifold. Can you folk=
s think of any other Achilles heels to rectify while the whole bay is *comp=
letely* empty?

Regarding another question from that post: Yes, I have driven a 44 without =
power assist of any sort. For about two years while in college, young, dumb=
, and living on $650/mo. I didn't find it unsafe, as the steering became li=
ght and easy once rolling, and the brakes were strong enough to lock all fo=
ur wheels with a healthy app of Dr. Martens.

I wouldn't recommend it for a performance modded car but it can be done (du=
cking...)

Regards,
Rob
