I beleive those regulators are cable driven, which basically means that they are desinged to break! Talk to the boys at GPR in San Luis Obispo, they should know the answere to this, as they sell an aftermarket cam driven regulator which may solve your problem for good.

On my '87 5kcstq, my pass. front window doesn't work anymore.  Basically,
for several months it would go up with a fight, and make a loud "clunk" when
it finally closed.  Finally today I had to help it up manually.

I doubt if it's the switch--it still goes down (although I'm not gonna test
it again!). Regulator? Something else?
