Regarding turbos, is there much chance that the exhaust turbine could be d=
etatched from the compresor impeller. I can get top and turn the intake sid=
e with my finger, can't readily get to the exhaust side?
If the turbo didn't spin would the impeller cause a great restriction in th=
e intake track?

Tests in addition to list below: checked exhaust back pressure per instru=
ctions on SJM site.
By-pass control hoses to waste gate in ateemp to see overboost.

Previous Post:

Car is 200 turbo, mac 14, 2 knock sensor, and "Charlie spring"
On another car set up the same I once experienced a code, (defective closed=
throttle position switch), that reduced boost, but it still would give som=
e boost.

Are there any ECU controls that won't allow any boost at all, I can only ge=
t .8~.9 on the dash gauge?

Has anyone experienced a waste gate stuck open?
How much could this condition reduce boost?
Background...
I lost power while driving, I did see 1.8 a few times then much reduced po=
wer. No sudden cut off, no whoosh of hose coming off, car still starts, idl=
es, stalls with oil cap removed, drives ok except for reduced power.
Things I have investigated:
-check for leaks with a stethoscope
-removed and inspected air hoses, I have blue silicone in place of MM hose=
 and a new lower hose
-the compressor side of the turbo turns with finger pressure
-checked timing, (crank,cam,dist)
-visually looked into catalytic converter, intact, no rattles
-remove waste gate cap and inspect diaphragm
-swapped fuel pump relay
Any more ideas are appreciated.
Nick
