remote locking?

According to the FA; the '97 A4 has the same controler as my '96 A6. It does
not program the same way as later years. It is not VAG-COM addressable. And
you may need to make sure you have the correct remote.
If I'm not mistaken, the controller will be under the back seat on the
driver side. It will have part # 8D0 907 335 A printed on it. The coding
procedure is as follows:
1. Put 1 key in the ignition and turn it on. (Don't start the car, just turn
it on until the dash lights up.
2. Roll down driver's side window. (You don't really have to do this, but
I'd hate to lock my key in the car)
3. Take the second key and lock the car using the drivers door.
4. Hold BOTH buttons on the remote until the turn signals flash and the door
unlocks. It should take about 5 seconds or less. I'm told range can be
significantly improved by re-routing the antenna out from under the seat and
up the seat back (search the audiworld.com tech articles).
