last year i asked about idle and starting troubles with my car. well as
i mentioned earlier, the idle trouble has been corrected (leak in the
intercooler). i received alot of great insight from various listers, of
which i appreciate.
the strarting concern is still a different story. this is what happens.
if the car sits for less than 10 minutes, OR 2+ days, it fires on the
first crank. if it sits for 20 minutes to 24 hours, it cranks about 30
times and when it does start, it is blue smoke, and a strong smell of
raw fuel out the exhaust. this would look to me that i have a leaking
injector. if i crack the fitting to the cold start injector(easiest one
to do), and bleed off the system pressure, the car will fire up right
away no matter how long it sits. once again, looking like a leaking
injector.
the pressure on the system is gone after several hours (over night). so
something is leaking by. it could be the check valve, but that would
not answer the question as to why the exhaust is blue and smelling of
raw fuel when it finally starts. the car was stored all winter, and
when i hooked up the battery and turned the key, it fired up on the
first crank.
but if it sits for a couple of hours, it wont. the car runs great once
it is started, so i suspect that the fuel and spark is not an issue.
tonight, i removed all 5 injectors and the cold start injector, and
jumpered the fuel pump. i let it run for about 10 minutes, then shut
it down and let the injectors sit on a piece of rubber (so i could
detect any fuel), and nothing. i let them stand for almost 30 minutes,
and not a drop. now i am confused. any ideas what to try next?
any input or ideas will be greatly appreciated.
thanks again
