Re 1990 Audi 100 ignition switch replacement

I did it on this model several years ago, so I am little slow. But, it seems 
to me that you have to break the joint at the bottom of the steering column 
and then hit the column downward to remove it from the "V" slot that supports it 
under the dash. This gives you sufficient room to remove the switch. 
Otherwise, it just never comes out. Ignore the methods for the 5K series, they had a 
lot more room under the dash. Somewhere, there is a 20V page which describes 
this. You really do whack the top of the column with a hammer to force it down.
