turbo coolant line

To answer my own question, and if anyone else is looking. I went to a
local heavy equipment dealer today and got a 14x1.5 to #6 hydraulic
union ($4 cnd), and a 90'#6 hydraulic female to 3/8" hose barb (quite
expensive @ $21 cdn).
When I removed the old fitting, I reused the copper gasket because the
new one was too big and may miss some of the sealing surface of the
turbo. I removed the rusted coolant line from behind the timing cover
case and also removed the banjo fitting at the head. I then cut the
crimp-on casing from over the short piece of rubber on the banjo piece
and removed the rest of the oem hose. The oem banjo fitting has a 3/8"
hose barb under the crimped on oem rubber. I then threaded a piece of
rubber coolant line behind the timing cover, attached it at both ends
with new clamps, and that was it. I reinstalled the oil line,
duct-work, and then started it up. Added coolant to get the level
normal, and checked for leaks. It took about 2 hours from start to
closing the hood for the last time, and the cost was much better than
the dealer $$.

i have a '87 5KT and it has developed a weep at the coolant supply line
fitting on the top of the turbo. i dont think i can get it apart,
without screwing the fitting. does anyone know what the threads are
inside the turbo for this? i checked with the dealer and the supply
pipe is $143 and the fitting is $64. that seems like alot for a simple
compression fitting. i am planning on making the new line out of thin
walled stainless tubing, but what to do about the union. i have many
different fittings for 3/8 compression type joints with pipe threads on
the other end, but i cant take mine apart until i know i can fix it with
a cheaper (less
expensive) piece.
has anyone had this fitting out tell me what the thread is? thanks brian
