HELP! 90Q Clutch R/R

Hi all!

The patient is my '88 90Q.  The husband just replaced the clutch and has put 
everything except the driveshaft back on.  The problem:  after a test 
start-she won't move.  Before putting the wheels on we did a practice start 
and the wheels moved when they were supposed to and stopped when they were 
supposed to, and she acts like she wants to go, but she won't budge.

Any suggestions on what may be wrong or what we've done to anger the Audi 
gods this time?
Any comments are welcome-when he left for work he threatened to bench her 
for good and finish the coupe that's waiting in the driveway.
