This has been an ongoing mystery/problem on my 4kq for over a year. Heres
the scoop:
Over a year ago, I ordered a new clutch master/slave for my 86 4kq and had
the Audi tech install it. Got car back, pedal feel was perfect, just like a new
car. A week later (my 21st bday), the rod on the master broke, had to have
car towed. Got my cash back for the defective master from PMC, and had Audi
order a master through them. A new clutch pedal assembly had to be ordered to.
All that junk was installed, system bled, bleh blah.
Got car back, pedal feel was horrible, totally unlike before. I could push
the clutch pedal in, and lift my foot up quickly, and the pedal would follow my
foot up, not near as quickly as it should. Clutch engaged fine and such, the
pedal just felt "dead". Fast forward to this past winter, had entire clutch
replaced (flywheel, pressure plate, TO bearing, pilot bearing, etc), problem
still persisted. As a last resort, I replaced the over center spring. Problem
is STILL there, what is it? I keep thinking its the master that Audi put
in, but am not sure, the PN should be correct.
Any ideas on this? You guys know your stuff, this one doesnt make sense...
Mike
