fuel injector inserts

Good idea for the tool... but how about using M8 hardware. I think M8 nuts and bolts require 13mm tools exactly. M8 stuff should be just as easy to find in any hardware store, esp. in Canada. good luck.

Kurt,
I have all the new items coming in tomorrow am. Hope to get them all
replaced after work. How deep does the allen wrench go into the
injector holder?
I don't have one that size so I will be using a 5/16 bolt (1/2" head)
with a nut welded at the appropriate depth for turning out the insert.
And for the seals, I picked up a bottle of silicon based o-ring
lubricant. Wont deteriate the rubber, and it goes in slick as ....
Best stuff ive found yet.
Thanks again
Brian

Replace all the o-rings and all the inserts. The insert should be the
red plastic ones. They clip onto the brass holders so they should come
out together. They are most likely to break putting the injector back
in. Total parts should be around $20 with bosch viton holder o-rings.
You should do this job with the engine warm if at all possible since it
makes a huge difference to the hardness of the large injector o-rings
(even new ones). Sears has a 1/2" allen that works good for taking out
the inserts. Clean the brass injector holders with emory paper while
they are out. Lubricate the injector holder o-rings with plenty of gas
before attempting to put them back in. Do not attempt in the cold or you
will waste the holder o-rings and inserts (BTDT).
