  Well of coarse, Let me explain it this way.  Injuries occur from rapid
deceleration.  Cars/SUV's have crumple zones which are designed to absorb
the energy from the vehicle's momentum.
The momentum is from the vehicle's forward travel, or another vehicle's
impact.  By rolling over the SUV is able to utilize all of it's crumple
zone's to absorb the energy of the crash, not just the one in the direction
of travel like a car.  Therefore it is safer.
