LAC welders

Britt,
I have a CLARKE mig (wire feed) welder, and a MILLER AC/DC stick welder.
I just made a tool (today) for removing the balancer for the timing belt
job, and the mig did not have the penetration to keep it together under
that amount of load. I had to re-weld with the stick, and that did the
job.
My suggestion is that if you plan on doing finer work (sheet metal or
anything under 1/4"), then the mig is the way to go, IMO.
My mig runs gas, but most will run the flux-cored wire (the best way to
start, it keeps the cost down).
Hope it helps
Brian

So any of you guys have an opinion on what kind of welder to get? I know
nothing about them, but I was going to get a wire fed welder. I was
specficly looking at the ones at Harbor Freight. <Audi content>I need
one to make one of those 2" square pipe crankshaft lockers so I can
change my timing belt.</Audi content> And just to have to play with :-)
