coolant system tester

I borrowed a snapon coolant system test tool, which included a set of
adapters for attaching to the expansion tank; the tool then attaches
to the adapters.

However, while two of the adapters(which honestly appear identical)
seem close and roughly the right type, they don't even come close to
having the right diameter. There's also a mystery ring of some sort
that fits around the center part of the adapter, tank side.

The kit was borrowed from a Porsche mechanic, and when we examined
the cap(engine was too hot to remove it), he said "oh, looks just
like some of the Porsche and VW ones", and we assumed that even if it
wasn't, one of the adapters would work.

Anyone know anything about this? Is there a mystery adapter floating
around somewhere in his shop, or did Snap-on only sell it with
one-make adapters?
