**** WD = Water Displacing
Thats what WD-40 was originally designed for . . or someone stumbled onto
it. Spray ignition wires to displace any moisture. Wipe metal surfaces to
keep them from rusting. Etc etc etc

I suppose it will "free" something that is very mildly corroded . . . but
thats advertising hype.

Max Blaster or Kroil are what mechanics and machine shops use for
penetrants. They use WD-40 to wipe down the end mill and lathe to keep them
nice and clean.

If you got grimy hands and no water and soap available, WD-40 does a great
job cleaning hands. Cleans up grimy tools also . . . and protects them.
