Bentley--phooey! (rear susp, CGT)

Putting in new rear Boge TG's & H&R's tonight.

Bentley's (limited) info on the rear suspension says to align the depression
in the lower spring retainer to 45 deg away from the direction of travel.
This didnt work too well.

1) Right side of car--the retainer depression is on the money, but the top
of the spring looks like it's supposed to fit into the existing notch at the
inside/top of the tower (which it ain't).   Left side is just way off.

2) Can I realign (spin) the lower spring retainer to coincide with Bentley's
instructions?  If so, is it safe to do?  Don't want to compromise the unit.

I am sure there are many BTDT's...help!
