MAC-11B

Jim,

the 2113 code is likely due to the distributor being out of adjustment. It may need to be turned in order for the hall window to line up correctly with the position of the flywheel position sensor.

If you are getting this code, more than likely the ECU is good. There is a problem such that the ECU does not receive the proper hall voltage signal - square wave generated from the time the window begins to pass the magnetic sensor to the time it disappears. Either the distributor/hall sensor is bad, or the wiring from the distributor is bad, or the distributor is out of adjustment.

The distributor may have become out of adjustment when the timing belt was installed if the sprocket is off by a tooth or more. If the cam was replaced, then it could be way out. Often timing belt is done and the engine crank is 180 deg out - happens to the best of us.

I recommend methodically lining up the engine to top dead center - #1 cam lobes pointing stright up -and/or-notch on back of cam sprocket lining up with valve cover gasket; Flywheel mark (0 and a notch) lined up with a pointer on the bell housing.- Don't rely on the dimple on the front of the engine cover plate to coincide with the harmonic balancer notch - these do slip and are generally more wrong than right. Another way to confirm TDC is to get #1 cyl near top and use a dowel inserted into #1 spark hole and trun engine 'til dowel rises to its highest point - note do a little at a time and pull and re-insert the dowel as it will bind.

Once all engine mechanicals lined up for TDC then distributor rotor should be pointing to the #1 spark wire port in the cap. The distributor may be turned and may need to be taken out and re-inserted to get correct. Typically the number one poisition all lines up with the bolt/rivit that secures the distributor.

OK - enough for now HTH and all that. List in copy to make sure I got all this right and did not forget something.

Ben

  Hey Ben

Sounds good, I may do that. About the codes, 2113 is what it sends. I've checked the Hall sender with a VOM, and a L.E.D. test light I made up, it seemed to check good with the light flashing as I cranked the engine over. I also checked the timing sensor, and the rpm sensor using the VOM, checking the ohms both checked at about 1k. when I checked at the power transistor connector with my test light I couldn't get a flash, however checking with the meter I did receive about a 2 volt reading while cranking over the engine.

  Thanks Jim
