bdtd?... brake servo replacement 200Q20v

Planning on doing a brake servo replacement this
weekend.

The technical bulletin from the SJM site indicates
removing lines and reservoir from the MC before
disconnecting from servo.  

Is this step absolutely necessary? or will I be able
to sneak the servo out with those items pushed
slightly out of the way?
