Ben - I've used a local locksmith for both an '87 5000 and an '89 100. If
you have a key in hand (which I assume you do), they can cut it and it's
pretty cheap. If they need to look up a code, and cut from the key code it's
more expensive. The blanks I've gotten in the past have black plastic/rubber
heads like the original but without the Audi logo. If you must have a key
with the Audi logo on the head then you're stuck buying a blank from the
stealership.
I'll bet that your local locksmith should be able take care of you, for
about 1/4 the price. I'm also betting that the logo on the key won't be as
important as the $30 in your pocket.
All the best,
Tom
