CGT - Suspension pop/shift

OK, well here's my plan of attack. Let me know what you think. I'm going to:

1. Replace Control Arm Bushings: I belive them to be the originals, so they are overdue. My source carries 3 brands, Boge/Sachs $9.42, Peters $7.95 and a generic $5.57. But I'm interested in tightening up the suspension a little. Thoughts on Eurathane/Delrin busings? Good? Bad? Where to get? What to pay?

2. New Boge TurboGas struts with new mounts. Not sure whther to go with Audi 90 V6 mounts or UrQ mounts. About the same price I belive. Thoughts on which ones? Anyone ever found Boge ProGas struts for the CGT?

3. Tie Rods: Mechanic says only "need outer". Source sells 2 brands of Tie Rod Ends, TRW for $20.37 and MOOG for $17.89. Any clue which is better? Or they also sell complete Tie Rod Assemblies made by Febi for $53.09. Thoughts on whther it jsut makes sicne to replace the whole thing since I have to pay someone to put it all on anyway?

4. Allignment, balance & rotate (have lifetime on all 3).

So, what do you think of the suspension rebuild plan? Anything I'm neglecting that should be done since I'm doing all this at the same time?

TIA,

Dave

Totally agreed. I'd never just change one side. Both sides will get fresh struts, strut mounts and bump-stops/dust-covers. But my question is...why do I go through strut mounts so fast? I do not track the car and I'm pretty gentile on her, but stut mounts seem to die about every 20,000 miles...?!

I'd so the other strut mount as well, I usually do them with strut changes -
80K or so seems to do them in.

Car: 1987 Coupe GT 2.3
Symptoms: Hear a dit pop from the right front when you first start moving or
when you hit the brakes. The pop sound is also felt, something is
shifting/giving. It is worst when you attemtp to start out with the wheel
turned or you hit a bump (like a speed bump).
Mechanics Diagnosis: Bad passenger outer tie rod end and bad upper strut
mount/bearing.

So, does this sound right to y'all? My mechanic is a very good general
mechanic, but is NOT an Audi specialist, but I trust him and his price is
right. Also, if you agree it is the tie rod and strut mount, what other
"while your at it" things should I have done? I will get new stut cartridges
put on at the same time as the strut mound, the Boge Turbos on there now are
approaching 3 years old, no sence in putting the old ones back on when they
have to be fully R&R'ed anyway. But what else? Thought on all of the above?
