Salvage Title, How much does it devalue a car?

In this case yes it has a salvaged title. I have a friend that follows the auto auctions and he see many that are thief recoveries with clean titles but many others are salvaged titles. I don't know what criteria is used to determine whether it should be salvaged or not. Probably the whim of some insurance smuck.
