Useful technique to assist compression tests

Hi gang,
Needed to check the compression in my 87.5 CGT over the weekend. By
studying the wiring diagram, I found that if you pull the horn relay
(position 7) and the brass shorting strip in the automatic interlock relay
(position 8) and jumper # 7's "34" contact to # 8's "36" contact together,
you can turn over the engine. I used a remote starter (Harbor Freight
Tools Item # 35448) and cut off its alligator clips and crimped on 1/4 inch
male disconnect contacts. That made it easy to insert right into the relay
contacts.
So it was a simple task to watch the compression gauge while pushing the
starter button. I also removed and grounded the ignition coil's output and
tied the throttle wide open to do the checks.
Regards,
- Tony
