Sounds like you have a dead pump. Jumping the relay is easy, get a small
piece of wire and jump the at the fuse box where the two larger spades
go. Ignition doesn't even have to be on.
Even if you hear the pump...that doesn't mean it's doing it's job, either
crack the line at the fuel filter, or I prefer to remove the cover off
the air cleaner (with the pump jumped and running) and feel for pressure
at the air plate. The injector lines are at the fuel distributor are
alot easier to loosen than the filter etc., with one of those lines
loose, when you push up on the air plate, you should get fuel.
Just had a pump go south on the 5KS, car died two or three times during
the week, then restarted, died for good before the weekend. Jumped Fuel
Pump Relay and pump was making normal noises...but I had zilch of fuel
when I did the above tests. Changed pump with one I pulled out of a
parts car a while back and all was fine. Well, almost, I seem to have
lost the fuel gauge, will get back in there to look at the sender after
the scrapes and scratches on the hands and wrist heal a bit.
