A6 2.7t versus Passat W8

I think the main thing is when the cars are abused, the turbos get the
brunt of it. Here are some causes;
- low quality oil... should only run good quality synthetic
- bypassvalve failure - just keep on top of them. Test once and a
while, or replace with quality aftermarket pieces
- intake hose leaks - I haven't seen this, but it can be one cause of
turbo over-spin.

I have to 2.7t cars, and A6 and allroad, both with 6-speed. The first
with 56K and the 2nd with 49K. So far, so good! BTW, sometime in 2001,
the oil passages in the K03 turbos were enlarged and larger oil lines
were fitted. this helped! (I'm sure my '01 A6 has the old ones, but
I'm hopefull that the allroad has the upgrade parts... not sure yet).
