heater core hacking?

I have done several heater motors on V8Q's, and it is actually quite easy
once you remove the wiper assy. The heater core would require the removal of
the housing, rather than just prying it up. The only hard part is breaking
the seal and removing the hoses. If you look at the drivers side of the
housing, there is actually a point to pry at. It is a plastic piece held in
by two phillips screws. With a large prybar and a piece of 2x4 (don't want
to bend the pinchweld) you can break the seal fairly easily. While you are
in there, I'd replace the hoses that go to the core, also.

Subject: heater core hacking?

Greetings,
has anyone successfully removed and replaced a 5K heater core without
removing the entire HVAC housing?
I have replaced several blower moters with the aid of a hacksaw, so far, and
speculate that it could be done with the heater core also.
Any BTDTs would be welcomed, as mine is currently leaking, disconnected, and
yet another heating season is on the way...
Best regards,
