This couldn't be a throwout bearing could it?

Certainly sounds like the pilot bearing, or has the symptoms anyhow. If it
goes away when you push in the pedal, and comes back when it is let out,
it's either a bad pilot or bad input shaft bearing in the trans. You
mentioned youhave a new exhaust system. Is it posible that noise from the
old system was masking this noise? Either way, I'd check it closer before
tearing into anything.

Subject: This couldn't be a throwout bearing could it?

Finally got my euro's in (bright like the sun!) so took my first extended
drive since TB change.

The drive went fine. But slow up the driveway and into the garage, I heard
a not-too-loud, but very present, squeaking from the drivetrain.

With the clutch pedal fully depressed there is no odd noise regardless of
RPM. But as the clutch is let out, I can hear a high pitched, lumpy/uneven
squeaking that continues as the car is put into gear.

I always understood a bad T.O. bearing would do the opposite (pedal
down->noise). Are there exceptions to that rule? Or will a failing
down->pilot
bearing make this sound?

Silly theories section: Could this be an exhaust flex joint (new system)
making noise only under load? Could the rubber bits of an old/failing motor
mount make such a noise while the DT is under load? A bad tranny mount?

Being alone, I couldnt get my head in there and pinpoint the source of the
noise.

This noise was not there before my TB change. As you can tell, I am
loathing the thought of a T.O. bearing/Pilot bearing problem at only 58,000
miles.

Any idea what I'm dealing with?
