Well, I guess if I HAD to have an automatic (i.e., daily commuting in a lot of stop and go traffic) I would want something that could give me some bit of fun when I wasn't sitting in traffic.... So the DSG may fit the bill for those in that situation..... On the other hand, the CVT (if you could get it with quattro) would be neat too..... But fortunately, it's a moot point as I work from home and they'll have to pry my 6-speed from my cold, dead hands!

I don't own one but I test drove the TT 3.2 DSG two weeks ago.
Yes, it's true that the transmission will shift by itself if you exceed
the redline, but only if you stay on the soft cut-off. It's kinda idiot
proof and doesn't castrate a sporting driver.
