So I tested my wastegate by putting vacuum on the small barb on the upper
chamber of the WG. It seems to hold vacuum fine, but I didn't really notice
a thud, just sounded like a diaphragm slowly closing up. Is this the only
test that should be done to test the WG? Is there possibly more than one
fail mode? The problem I noticed when I ran the engine was that there seemed
to be a hissing sound like a vacuum leak coming from the area of the WG. I'm
pretty sure it was the WG as I've replaced 90% of the intake/vac hoses in
there, but I can't be positive. Should I open the WG in trying to find out
if it's OK, or will I just be opening up a can of worms? Any advice much
appreciated. TIA.

Ameer,
Why are you testing the wg funcitonality? Do you have a boost leak, or are
you checking simply b/c of the noise you mention above? Are you not making
full boost? What is the year/model of the patient?
