A6 oil leak ?

I am one, of probably many, that have a 98 A6 2.8 with the accursed oil leak
at the back of the head through the less than "superior German engineering"
ball bearing peened into the head. It drips directly onto the manifold and
makes the car smell bloody awful.
The options are;
1 Fix the leak by pulling the head.
2 Live with it.
3 Sell/trade it as is.
Being out of work, the fix option is something I would have to do myself. I
have done some very difficult jobs on other Audis in the stable, but pulling a
head from a V6 seems a daunting task to me.
What have others of you done with this malady? Any advice on the procedure?
Pulling the front apron and all the front fascia is required to access the
t-belt etc. Any procedural & process advice?
The car has been a great daily driver for my wife, but the smell is getting
intolerable! My limit has been reached, so something has to happen one way or
another! It gets fixed or it goes!
TIA
