So, I cut my tank open, cut the "shelf" above the drain on two sides so it would bend up, and took some pics. I'll be posting them and the fix when I get a website figured out.
It's ugly in there. It looks like a combination of mud and rust flakes.
I'm going to cut off the feed tube a bit (the really rusty part), and then I want to epoxy the shelf and the panel I cut out of the top. I am removing the screen with the end of the tube. Question is, does gasoline affect hardened (set) Epoxy? I know silicone won't work, as gas eats it. And, I'm not a good enough welder to tak the chance it won't leak. I am only going to do this job once.
