Nah, won't even get that far. Take a look at the layout, there's that
elephant dongle filler neck with the rollover valve built into it, winding
it's way 2.5ft down to the tank. I doubt a 3/8 extension is slipping through
there. It may rattle while hiding in the aluminum filler neck, but not so
you'll hear it over 16yr old old suspension :)  Don't sweat it.
