wet spark plug - dead spark plug?

If you get a really large amount of carbon build up on the plug, for 
example from oil burning or extended rich running or misfiring, it can 
be very difficult (short of bead blasting) to remove all of the carbon 
deposits.

In this situation, you are usually better off replacing the plug, 
unless you've got a bead blast cabinet or an abrasive spark plug 
cleaner available. If you do go that route, make sure you adequately 
clean the plug in solvent, and blow it off with compressed air to make 
sure there's no abrasive debris left.
