I dunno, he's got a wagon, so the antennae's in the roof, not the
'shield. Which is the major price difference between a 5k and 100/200
'shield. If I recall, we'd get them installed for 375$ or so.


--- Chris- don't know about your pricing, but I just had my windshield
replaced for approx
$420 plus $110 for the molding, total $530 including labor- this is the
200 windshield with
the in-glass antenna. So it definitely pays to shop. A 5k windshield
without the antenna is
going to be significantly less, as you have mentioned.

--- I personally would not pay much for a car in the condition you
described-
maybe $1500 tops, assuming that the interior and exterior paint and trim
is all
in excellent condition. If not, forget about it- it costs way too much
for the cosmetic
stuff to even consider a car not in pristine cosmetic condition before
even looking
at the mechanicals. The smoke and oil consumption as well as the other
little stuff is
definitely cause for concern.
