Well, they're not rumors. The windage tray is wider in the rear, to
match up with the cast pan used on the engine its for. Leaving them on
will interfere slightly with the "engine/transmission damper" bracket
thing. It's bolt holes to the tranny won't quite line up.
Cutting the tray down is no big deal - just place the oil pan or a
gasket on it, and mark where it sticks out on each side, and cut the
excess off with a hand shear.
