re. Does your CGT or 4Kq start as fast as a new car?

I don't know how fast most new cars start, but I don't think you can get much quicker starting than my wifes '85 4kq.  You barely have to bump the starter and VROOM.  I don't think the crank turns through 1 rev., especially when cold.  Sure every now and then it might take a second, but for a car you need to start on a cold morn. this is it.


I second that.  My old JT engine in my 4kq started no matter what.  I drove around with a dieing battery for a while and it always started.  It usually cleared my radio presets from the battery voltage sagging so much, but always started.  I would regularly have problems with rental cars when I traveled since I would have to crank several times before I remembered to crank it long enough to start.

It was a little bitter sweet to pull that motor.  The turbo motor is not so quick at starting.
