One of the little tricks that I used when replacing the slave cylinder in-car, was to get a helper to sit in the car once the roll pin has been knocked out, and pump the clutch pedal up and down. The extension of the slave cylinder will then help to push itself out of the hole. If you're lucky that will push the cylinder out on it's own. I had to twist the cylinder around a bit and it gave way. Prying out the slave is kinda difficult, as it usually doesn't apply the force in the exact direction you need, and causes it to bind up.
