A6 oil leak

This is posted for a friend of mine with a '99 A6Q that has a
somwhat persisten oil leak. Her shop diagnosed a leaking valve
cover gasket, but that did not seem to help. Here's what they
say they think needs to be done now. Does this ring any bells?

> Called Audi to get the parts for the Audi and the parts man asked 
> if we were trying to cure an oil leak. We said yes, he said it is 
> very common on that car and you need to replace the vacuum, pump 
> and a breather pipe that goes between both sides. Also replacing 
> a seal cap and a couple of smaller pieces. The parts from the 
> dealer are 186.00, I am guessing the labor would about 3 hours. 
> But I have never done one so I am not positive on that. So the 
> total could be around 416.00. 
> The parts are in stock at the dealer and they said they do them 
> all the time.
