I don't think running to much boost has anything to do
with it because there's pressure on both sides of the
valve so you're not ever stressing it more than
normal.  Unless somehow the boost is leaking into the
motor assembly.

I run the valve a little different, I just stuck a
little air filter on the inlet, then connected it to
the manifold with a check valve in between.  This way
you get rid of the valve seeing any boost, and in my
case running an extra pre-TB line for the inlet.
