Sorry to hear this.

If you got these from me, then I would be inclined to offer you a replacement. I can not afford to offer downloads, and freebees and the time to provide advice is costly as well, but to answer your other question..

Here is a quick summary of the differences in the QLCC chip and the MAC11C code:

1. The overboost shutdown is raised to 1.95 bar(just below the 2 Bar rating of the pressure transducer in the ECU.

2. The WGFV target boost tables are modified to leave the WGFV open longer until the boost gets up to the 1.7-1.8 bar level.

3. Timing and fuel values remapped to accomodate higher boost settings.

Although the chip will allow you to obtain boost to around 1.8 by itself by regulating the frequency valve and raising the overboost protection, a stiffer WG spring and/or pressure regulator mod will help get boost sooner at lower RPM and maintain the boost longer.

I've seen quite a number of soldering screwups which my procedures that I provide attempt to eliminate. The only folks that ever screwed up the soldering job when they got a chip from me did not follow the details I provide for installing the chip. I mention up front, it is not a trivial procedure, and offer to do the installation for a nominal fee.

I may be able to work something out with provide you a chip at lower than my usual cost, including instructions since you already have copies. I have some tricks listed in the instructions(not online) to help ensure a successful chip install. One thing you should definately do is to use a PROM socket. This would allow you to easily extract a chip that is suspected of being bad. The more soldering that is done on the ECU, the more chance that damage will occur.

Hi guys-

ok well i acquired a couple qlcc chips. A friend of mine installed his but it doesn't work. This can definetly be attributed to his "skills" with soldering on a circuit board. I'd like to find out what he did wrong before i install mine. Is there a testing procedure once the chip/socket are installed? thankfully we had a spare ECU lying around so we didn't hack up a good one.....

also, does the qlcc code alter the timing maps? or just change fuel and raise the fuel cutoff? i've heard both answers regarding the timing so i'd just like to know. ALso, is the code readily available to download somewhere?

thanks
Jeff]
